Voluntary Vision Insurance
UVM is excited to offer a new and highly requested vision program to all employees in Benefit Groups A, B & C, represented and non-represented. Please note, if you enroll during Open Enrollment – this coverage will begin January 1, 2020. While this voluntary benefit is fully employee-paid, UVM negotiated very competitive group rates which are far more affordable than the rates participants would find on their own. Flexible Spending Accounts
A Flexible Spending Account allows you to reduce your take-home pay by an amount determined by you each November. The FSA will shelter these earnings from taxes in order to allow you to pay for approved medical and/or dependent care expenses tax-free.?(You may open a medical account and/or a dependent care account, but these must be set up and maintained as separate accounts.)
Vision Discount Programs
Regular eye examinations play a crucial role in ensuring healthy vision and overall health. An eye examination can not only detect vision problems, but also can detect the early stages of serious health problems such as diabetes and hypertension. One in four children has an undetected vision problem that can interfere with learning, according to the Vision Council of America.?
Employees, their dependent children and spouses may be eligible for tuition remission at UVM or Vermont State Colleges. Access the applicable collective bargaining agreement or handbook for details on eligibility and exclusion criteria.
Hearing Aid Program
This is a 10% reduction from the retail cost of hearing aids that are selected and fit through the Eleanor M. Luse Center Audiology Clinic. All professional fees (hearing evaluation, hearing aid selection, earmolds, fitting, and followup) normally applied will be in effect.
Savings range from $100 per instrument to $220 per instrument, depending on the hearing aid determined to be the best fit for your hearing loss and listening needs. We will work with the same protocols for best practice and care to ensure maximum benefit. As always, we will continue to select instruments that are smartly designed, feature advanced technology and are highly durable. The 45-day return period (Vermont law and enforced whenever and wherever hearing aids are provided inside Vermont) and all warranties will apply as usual.?
UVM works with local, national, and international vendors to offer unique discounts to UVM employees.??
